Fun places for the little ones
It's not difficult to keep children entertained in Santa Marta. Most hotels have swimming pools, and the beaches are safe and accessible. Many children entertain themselves for hours with a bucket and shovel on the beach.
At Rodadero Beach, there are play and climbing structures for children. On the Rodadero and Bahía Santa Marta beaches, there are play areas and exercise machines for children and adults.
Day trips to different beaches can also be a fun change of pace. Puerto Gaira Beach is a 10-15 minute walk from Rodadero Beach, and Salguero Beach is another 10-15 minutes from Puerto Gaira. Depending on where you stay, other beaches may require a longer taxi ride, such as Playa Taganga, Minca, Palomino, or a beach in Bello Horizonte.
As mentioned above, visiting shopping malls is a great option for families with young children, as they feature food courts, bookstores, children's stores, and parks with fun games.
