Air transport
Several airlines offer flights to Santa Marta from Bogotá and Medellín, and some from other cities such as Cali, Pereira, and Bucaramanga, including Avianca, Latam, Wingo, and Jetsmart.
Copa Air offers flights to Panama.
Bus lines / Transport terminal
Bus trips to and from most cities in Colombia end or start at the Transport Terminal.
There are also regional lines with offices in Rodadero (Calle 11 and Carrera 3) that offer service to Ciénaga, Barranquilla, and Cartagena. These lines also make intermediate stops for passengers to get off closer to their destination, in addition to their main stations in each city.
Internal transport
Getting around Santa Marta is easy and inexpensive compared to larger cities in Colombia and North America.
City buses run almost every 10 minutes. It can be difficult to know which one to take, and there's no efficient app, but just ask the driver if they pass by your destination. The fare is 2,700 pesos (~US$$0.65).
Taxis are plentiful and cost around 10,000 pesos (~US$$2.50) within local areas, and about 20,000 between Rodadero and Santa Marta.
Uber has arrived recently, but it's not yet as common as it is in Medellín or Bogotá. Most drivers are taxi drivers who use the app, so the price difference is minimal, but the convenience may be worth it.
Motorcycle taxis, or "motos," are very common in Santa Marta. They cost between 4,000 and 5,000 pesos (~US$1.00 – 1.25) in local areas, and up to 10,000 pesos between Rodadero and Santa Marta. Always ask the price before getting on. Although many people use them even to get to Minca, a taxi or bus would be safer. It's rare that a day goes by without a motorcycle accident in the city.
